Distant Lands
Brand Identity
Distant Lands are a craft drinks wholesaler based in Cambridge, who have carved out a niche in sourcing delicious products from passionate independent makers from around the world. They had a logo but no other branding to speak of when they approached me, and felt it was time to flesh out the brand to reflect the personal and unique service they offer.
I developed a brand concept called Earth & Elements, which took inspiration from the name Distant Lands, evoking ideas of the past, ingredients from the earth and hand-made craft. The set of icons is influenced by scandi folk art, with a rough aesthetic. The hop, grapes and bee represent beer, wine and mead which are the three products the company now specialise in.
“Distant Lands had been going for 5 years, at which point we felt our visual identity needed a fresh perspective and an update. After an initial meeting we loved Bethan's energy and adaptability to a new industry. We found the process really exciting, throwing our ideas into the mix Bethan listened and delivered, whilst also bringing fresh new ideas that we would never have thought of. We ended up with an amazing new identity across our platforms that we would never achieved without her expertise, helping take Distant Lands to the next level.”
